EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER

Ken Skinn has worked at K & L for just over a year and has not baulked at an opportunity to grow himself or help our customers any way he can. "He's always here working hard to get things done." "Give Ken any TASK and he KILLS it! Ken really cares about K &L, he goes above and beyond to do the job right. He has really stepped up and has become a valuable asset to the company and we all appreciate him." "Ken always exhibits that can-do spirit. He pulls a lot of long hours to make sure the job gets done."
Being an expedited freight dispatcher at K & L who specializes in Hot Shots, but steps-up to help the entire operations where ever and whenever needed, is not an easy job description. But, "Ken always gives 200% and has a positive attitude. He’ll come in early or stay late in order to complete his work. He's a great example of a hard worker and always gets the job done." "Ken has a great work-ethic. He's been in dispatch for less than 2 years, has busted his tail to be his best and truly cares about K & L's customers – he's someone we can rely on to get the job done right!" You'll notice a reoccurring theme in our employees nominations for him; the phrase "gets the job done right" is in every quote and it couldn't be more true! Reliability is an excellent quality to have in a co-worker and an even better quality to have in a transportation vendor – that's the K & L way!
Ken's motivation stems from his competitiveness, he says, "I like to be the best at everything I do." The most enjoyable part of his job is the compliments from customers. While the toughest is trying to track everything at once and know everything about every shipment – In expedited freight, there is never enough time one day! While one could still consider Ken a rookie here at K & L he has long-term dreams to become a manager at K & L, and it looks like he’s off to a great start! "The staff here is great. Everyone is committed to helping K & L grow", and that's what he enjoys about working here. In the short term he would like to buy a house!
Outside of work, our very own country boy enjoys fishing, shooting and racing. After a long days’ work, you'll probably catch him enjoying a few "libations", relaxing and playing with his handsome dog. Ken checks "single" on the marital status box but don’t let him fool you, his girlfriend is with him 24/7 (literally!for those of you who know their work situation ?). His favorite "sport" (this is up for debate in our office) is NASCAR, followed second by motocross. Ken frequently represents his favorite racer Jeff Burton #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet team gear at work.
"My parents are my biggest inspirations because they are 2 of the most hardworking people I’ve ever met. They never complain about what gets thrown at them – they just get it done."
